     Colonel Martin Lindsay, 16th of Dowhill was born in 1782 at London, England.1 He was the son of James Lindsay, 15th of Dowhill and Ann Pillance.2 He married Elspeth Hadden, daughter of James Hadden of Persley, in 1817.1 He died in 1847.1
     He was Colonel of the 78th (Seaforth) Highlanders between 1819 and 1837.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.)1

     David Baird Lindsay, 17th of Dowhill was born in 1822.1 He was the son of Colonel Martin Lindsay, 16th of Dowhill and Elspeth Hadden.2 He married, firstly, Sophia Garstin, daughter of Reverend Norman Garstin, in 1843.1 He married, secondly, Eleanor Garstin, daughter of Reverend Anthony Garstin, in 1856.1 He died in 1887.1
     He was a merchant at Calcutta, India.1
