     He fought in the Boxer Rebellion between 1899 and 1900.1 He fought in the First World War.1 He gained the rank of Commander in the Royal Navy.1 He was awarded the Order of the Crown Italy.1 He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1919.1 He was Secretary of the Navy League.1 He fought in the Second World War.1
