     Hercules Edward Rowley, 4th Baron Langford of Summerhill was born on 1 June 1848.1 He was the son of Clotworthy Wellington William Robert Rowley, 3rd Baron Langford of Summerhill and Louisa Augusta Conolly.2 He married, firstly, Georgina Mary Sutton, daughter of Sir Richard Sutton, 4th Bt. and Harriet Anne Burton, on 11 July 1889.1 He married, secondly, Margaret Antonia Mitchell-Carruthers, daughter of Reverend William Mitchell-Carruthers and Antonia Holden, on 20 November 1915.1 He died on 29 October 1919 at age 71.1
     He succeeded as the 4th Baron Langford of Summerhill, co. Meath [I., 1800] on 19 July 1854.1 He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in 1879 in the Grenadier Guards.1 He was appointed Representative Peer [Ireland] in 1884.1 He was State Steward to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland between 1886 and 1892.1 He was Comptroller to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland between 1895 and 1902.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of County Meath.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for County Meath.1 He was appointed Knight Commander, Royal Victorian Order (K.C.V.O.)1
