     Maj.-Gen. Edward John Lake was born on 19 June 1823.1 He was the son of Major Edward Lake and Harriot Marion Goldingham.2 He married Elizabeth Penrose Bewes, daughter of Thomas Bewes, on 11 July 1861.1 He died on 7 June 1877 at age 53, without surviving issue.1
     He was appointed Companion, Order of the Star of India (C.S.I.)1 He gained the rank of Major-General in the Royal Engineers.1

Noel Thomas Lake was born on 22 October 1799.1 He was the son of Admiral Sir Willoughby Thomas Lake and Charlotte Macbride.2 He was baptised on 23 November 1799 at All Saints, Edmonton, London, England.3 He married Elizabeth Apperley, daughter of Reverend Thomas Apperley, on 6 December 1832.1 He died on 19 May 1864 at age 64, without issue.1
     He gained the rank of Major-General in the Royal Artillery.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.)1 He was awarded the Officer, Order of the Medjidie.1 He was awarded the Officier, Ordre national de la Légion d’honneur.1
