     Henry Hamilton, 5th of Fairholm and of Houston was the son of Mathew Hamilton, 4th of Fairholm and of Aldtoun and Milburne and Agnes Livingstone.2 He married Agnes Livingstone, daughter of Alexander Livingstone of West Quarter, on 5 March 1561/62.1 He died before 8 May 1574, without issue.1
     On 20 August 1545 he was legitimated.1 On 10 October 1557 Fairholm was made over by his father to him.1 On 8 May 1562 Houston was made over by his father to him.1 On 6 June 1569 he resigned Houston to his uncle, Robert.1 In 1570 the mansion at Fairholm was destroyed in an English raid.1 On 20 November 1570 he resigned Fairholm to his uncle, Robert.1
