     James Veitch Johnstone was born on 19 December 1924.1 He was the son of Major FitzRoy Augustus Beauclerk Johnstone and Alida Helen Veitch.2 He married Nancy Hayes Atkinson, daughter of Henry Atkinson, in 1949.1 He died on 3 June 2016 at age 91.3
     He was educated at Lancing College, Lancing, Sussex, England.1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He gained the rank of Sub-Lieutenant in 1943 in the Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve.1 He lived in 2003 at Glasfryn, Valley Road, Llanfairfechan, Caernarvonshire, Wales.1
