     She was educated at Clyde School, Woodford, Victoria, Australia.⁵ From 1928, her married name became Murdoch.¹ She was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1961.⁵ She was appointed Dame Commander, Order of the British Empire (D.B.E.) in 1963.⁴ She was appointed Companion, Order of Australia (A.C.) in 1989.⁵

     Janet Murdoch was born on 1 January 1939.² She is the daughter of Sir Keith Arthur Murdoch and Elisabeth Joy Greene.¹ She married John A. Calvert-Jones, son of Percy G. Calvert-Jones and Jean S. Binning, on 3 February 1962 at Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.³
     From 3 February 1962, her married name became Calvert-Jones.¹
