     He was educated at Marlborough College, Marlborough, Wiltshire, England^G.¹ He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, in 1950 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)¹ He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, with a Bachelor of Medicine (M.B.)¹ He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, with a Bachelor of Surgery (B.Ch.)¹ He succeeded as the 8th Baronet Hort, of Castle Strange, co. Middlesex [G.B., 1767] on 5 March 1960.¹ He was medical director of Berkshire Pharmaceuticals and A H Robins Company.¹

     Richard Patrick Arthur Hort was born on 3 January 1931.¹ He is the son of Sir Fenton George Hort, 7th Bt. and Lucy Rachel Gwendolene Alcock.² He married Agnete Maria Mannheimer, daughter of Nils Mannheimer, on 16 June 1956.¹
