     Sir Thomas William Holderness, 1st Bt. was born on 11 June 1849.¹ He married Lucy Elsmie, daughter of George Robert Elsmie and Elizabeth Spears, on 14 March 1885.¹ He died on 16 September 1924 at age 75.¹
     He was educated at Cheltenham College, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England^G.¹ He graduated from University College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England^G, in 1872 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)¹ He was in the Indian Civil Service between 1873 and 1901.¹ He was appointed Companion, Order of the Star of India (C.S.I.) in 1898.¹ He was Secretary of Revenue and Statistics Department, India Office in 1901.¹ He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Star of India (K.C.S.I.) in 1907.¹ He held the office of Permanent Under-Secretary, India Office between 1912 and 1919.¹ He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.) in 1914.¹ He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Order of the Bath (G.C.B.) in 1917.¹ He was created 1st Baronet Holderness, of Tadworth, co. Surrey [U.K.] on 16 February 1920.¹ He was , with a daughter (Helen Alice, married 5 April 1913 Lieutenant-Colonel Sir (Charles) Max Page, KBE, CB, DSO, MB, MS, FRGC, FRCS, Royal Army Medical Corps (died 1963), on 16 September 1924.¹

     George Robert Elsmie was born on 31 October 1838 at Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.² He was the son of George Elsmie and Anne Shepherd.² He married Elizabeth Spears, daughter of Thomas Spears, on 27 October 1861 at Southampton, Hampshire, England.² He died on 26 March 1909 at age 70 at Torquay, Devon, England.²
     He was educated at Marischal College, Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.² He was educated at Haileybury College, Haileybury, Hertfordshire, England.² He held the office of Judge of the Punjab Chief Court in 1878.² He was appointed Companion, Order of the Star of India (C.S.I.)¹

     Lucy Elsmie was the daughter of George Robert Elsmie and Elizabeth Spears.^2,3 She married Sir Thomas William Holderness, 1st Bt. on 14 March 1885.¹ She died on 20 January 1948.¹
     From 14 March 1885, her married name became Holderness.

     Sir Ernest William Elsmie Holderness, 2nd Bt. was born on 13 March 1890.¹ He was the son of Sir Thomas William Holderness, 1st Bt. and Lucy Elsmie.² He married Emily Carleton McQuade, daughter of Arthur Frederick Hale McQuade, on 7 January 1926.¹ He died on 23 August 1968 at age 78.¹
     He was educated at Radley College, Abingdon, Oxfordshire, England^G.¹ He was educated at Corpus Christi College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.¹ He was admitted to Inner Temple in 1920 entitled to practise as a barrister.¹ He was Assistant Secretary, Home Office.¹ He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Holderness, of Tadworth, co. Surrey [U.K., 1920] on 16 September 1924.¹ He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1950.¹

     Arthur Frederick Hale McQuade lived at Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.¹

     Emily Carleton McQuade was the daughter of Arthur Frederick Hale McQuade.² She married Sir Ernest William Elsmie Holderness, 2nd Bt., son of Sir Thomas William Holderness, 1st Bt. and Lucy Elsmie, on 7 January 1926.¹ She died on 19 August 1950.¹
     From 7 January 1926, her married name became Holderness.

     Sir Richard William Holderness, 3rd Bt. was born on 30 November 1927.² He was the son of Sir Ernest William Elsmie Holderness, 2nd Bt. and Emily Carleton McQuade.² He married Pamela Mary Chapman, daughter of Eric Chapman, on 14 November 1953.² He died on 30 May 1998 at age 70.²
     He was educated at Dauntsey’s School, West Lavington, Wiltshire, England^G.² He graduated from Corpus Christi College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)² He was with the Overseas Civil Service, North Rhodesia between 1955 and 1965.² He was an estate agent with Whitehead and Whitehead between 1967 and 1986 at Bognor Regis, Sussex, England.² He succeeded as the 3rd Baronet Holderness, of Tadworth, co. Surrey [U.K., 1920] on 23 August 1968.² He was registered as a Professional Associate, Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (A.R.I.C.S.) in 1976.²

     Margaret Carleton Holderness was born on 8 June 1929.¹ She is the daughter of Sir Ernest William Elsmie Holderness, 2nd Bt. and Emily Carleton McQuade.² She married William Frederick Walter Southwood on 1 May 1965.¹
     She graduated from Edinburgh University, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland^G, with a Bachelor of Medicine (M.B.)¹ She graduated from Edinburgh University, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland^G, in 1954 with a Bachelor of Surgery (Ch.B.)¹ She was appointed Fellow, Faculty of Anaesthetists, Royal College of Surgeons of England (F.F.A.R.C.S.) in 1959.¹ From 1 May 1965, her married name became Southwood. She was a consultant anaesthetist at United Bristol Hospitals, Bristol, England.¹ She lived in 2003 at 1 Aldwick Avenue, Bognor Regis, Sussex, England^G.¹

     William Frederick Walter Southwood married Margaret Carleton Holderness, daughter of Sir Ernest William Elsmie Holderness, 2nd Bt. and Emily Carleton McQuade, on 1 May 1965.¹ He died on 27 April 2002.¹
     He was appointed Fellow, Royal College of Surgeons (F.R.C.S.)¹ He graduated with a Master of Surgery (M.Ch.)¹ He graduated with a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.)¹

     Robert William Southwood was born on 9 August 1966.¹ He is the son of William Frederick Walter Southwood and Margaret Carleton Holderness.²
