Major Edward Clarke was born in 1716 at New York, U.S.A.G.1 He was the son of George Clarke and Anne Hyde.1 He married Elisabeth Guthrie, daughter of Colonel James Guthrie of Guthrie and Margaret Turnbull, at JamaicaG.1 He died on 6 September 1776 at Buxton, Derbyshire, EnglandG.1
He gained the rank of Lieutenant on 22 February 1730 at New York, U.S.A.G, in the Captain Holland’s Independent Company.1 He was Commissioner of Indian Affairs in 1738 at Albany, Albany County, New York, U.S.A.G.1 He fought in the Capture of Havana in 1762, commanding company of Albany Provincials.1
