     Maj.-Gen. John Ryder Oliver was born on 16 December 1834.³ He was the son of John Dudley Oliver and Mary Susanna Green.¹ He married, firstly, Georgina Frances Harrison, daughter of George M. Harrison, on 19 April 1864.³ He married Mary Hinds, daughter of W. G. Hinds, on 30 June 1880.³ He died on 10 February 1909 at age 74.³
     He was educated at Leamington College, Leamington, Warwickshire, England^G.³ He was commissioned in 1855 with the rank of officer, in the service of the Royal Artillery.³ He was educated at Caius College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England^G.³ He fought in the Indian Mutiny between 1857 and 1859, where he was mentioned in despatches.³ He gained the rank of Lieutenant between 1860 and 1864 in the Royal Horse Artillery.³ He fought in the Bhutan War between 1864 and 1865, where he was mentioned in despatches.³ He gained the rank of Brigade-Major between 1869 and 1874 in the Royal Artillery, Aldershot.³ He was Commandant between 1886 and 1888 at Royal Military College, Kingston, Ontario, Canada^G.³ He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.) in 1889.³ He lived at Cherrymount, County Wicklow, Ireland^G.³ He invented a sun-dial which showed true clock time.³

     Major Charles Valentine Oliver was born on 9 March 1836.¹ He was the son of John Dudley Oliver and Mary Susanna Green.¹ He died on 10 October 1880 at age 44 at Kandahar, Afghanistan^G, from smallpox.¹
     He gained the rank of Major in the 66th Foot.¹ He fought in the Battle of Maiwand, Kandahar in July 1880.²

     Edward Dudley Oliver was born on 25 June 1837.¹ He was the son of John Dudley Oliver and Mary Susanna Green.¹ He died on 1 August 1865 at age 28 at Murrerr, Lunjab, Pakistan.^1,2
     He gained the rank of Captain in the 51st Foot.¹

     Henry James Oliver was born on 5 July 1838.¹ He was the son of John Dudley Oliver and Mary Susanna Green.¹ He married Frances Martha Graves, daughter of Captain Thomas Graves, on 23 May 1864.¹ He died on 12 April 1879 at age 40, killed by a young horse falling on him while he was teaching it to jump.¹
     He gained the rank of Captain in the 56th Regiment.¹ He gained the rank of Captain in 1864 at Malta in the 22nd Cheshire.²

     Frances Martha Graves was the daughter of Captain Thomas Graves.¹ She married Henry James Oliver, son of John Dudley Oliver and Mary Susanna Green, on 23 May 1864.¹ She died on 8 November 1885.¹
     From 23 May 1864, her married name became Oliver.¹

     Captain Thomas Graves gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Navy.¹

     Edward Graves Oliver was born on 26 August 1866.¹ He was the son of Henry James Oliver and Frances Martha Graves.¹ He married Flora Ingle in 1891.¹
     He was with the Indian Forest Department.¹

     Flora Ingle married Edward Graves Oliver, son of Henry James Oliver and Frances Martha Graves, in 1891.¹
     From 1891, her married name became Oliver.¹

     Henry Herbert Montague Oliver was born in 1897.¹ He was the son of Edward Graves Oliver and Flora Ingle.¹

     Frances Alice Margaret Oliver was born on 17 January 1895.¹ She was the daughter of Edward Graves Oliver and Flora Ingle.¹
