     He gained the rank of Major-General in the Madras Indian Army, Staff Officer.¹

     Annie Ashton Liddell was born at sea in the Indian Ocean in 1834.¹ She was the daughter of William Liddell and Susanna Sophia Austin. She married Maj.-Gen. Douglas Standen, son of James Montressor Standen and Henrietta Sophia Fraser.¹ She died on 29 November 1911 at Doyle Crescent, Guernsey, Channel Islands^G.¹
     Her married name became Standen.¹

     Major James Douglas Standen was born on 27 December 1855 at Madras, India^G.² He was the son of Maj.-Gen. Douglas Standen and Annie Ashton Liddell.¹ He was baptised on 2 April 1856 at Jauluah, India^G.² He married Alice Mc. D. Williams.¹ He died on 8 May 1921 at age 65 at Chailey, 36 Dean Park Road, Bournemouth, Dorset, England^G.¹ His will was proven (by probate) on 10 September 1921, at £2,084 17s 2d.¹

     Alice Mc. D. Williams was born in 1861 at India^G.¹ She married Major James Douglas Standen, son of Maj.-Gen. Douglas Standen and Annie Ashton Liddell.¹ She died in 1917 at Christchurch, Hampshire, England^G.²
     Her married name became Standen.¹

     Henrietta Flora May Standen was born in 1887 at Farnham, Surrey, England^G.¹ She was the daughter of Major James Douglas Standen and Alice Mc. D. Williams.¹ She died in 1956 at Kensington, London, England^G.²

     Captain James Douglas Standen was born in 1888 at Dover, Kent, England^G.¹ He was the son of Major James Douglas Standen and Alice Mc. D. Williams.¹ He died on 22 December 1923 at Jandola, Waziristan, India, killed in action.¹ His will was proven (by probate) on 25 April 1924 at London, England^G, at £14,257 13s 5d.¹
     He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.)¹ He gained the rank of Captain in the 2/9th Jat. Regiment.¹ He fought in the North-West Frontier.¹

     Nora E. Phyllis Standen was born in 1890 at England.¹ She was the daughter of Major James Douglas Standen and Alice Mc. D. Williams.¹ She married Alexander Surtees Bredon in 1918 at Christchurch, Hampshire, England^G.¹ She died in 1954 at Surrey, England^G.¹
     From 1918, her married name became Bredon.¹

     Alexander Surtees Bredon was born on 27 June 1885 at Liverpool, Lancashire, England^G.¹ He married Nora E. Phyllis Standen, daughter of Major James Douglas Standen and Alice Mc. D. Williams, in 1918 at Christchurch, Hampshire, England^G.¹ He died in 1960.¹

     Henrietta Maud Standen was born on 14 March 1857 at Hoshungabad, India^G.¹ She was the daughter of Maj.-Gen. Douglas Standen and Annie Ashton Liddell.¹ She married Edward Archdall ffooks, son of William ffooks.¹ She died on 5 May 1938 at age 81 at Dorchester, Dorset, England^G.¹
     Her married name became ffooks.¹

     Edward Archdall ffooks was born in 1859 at Sherborne, Dorset, England^G.¹ He was the son of William ffooks.¹ He married Henrietta Maud Standen, daughter of Maj.-Gen. Douglas Standen and Annie Ashton Liddell.¹ He died on 23 June 1932 at The Victoria Hotel, Sidmouth, Devon, England^G.¹
