Richard Knight Causton, 1st and last Baron Southwark1 
Richard Knight Causton, 1st and last Baron Southwark was born on 25 September 1843.1 He was the son of Sir Joseph Causton and Mary Ann Potter.1 He married Selina Mary Chambers, daughter of Sir Thomas Chambers and Diana White, on 10 August 1871.1 He died on 23 February 1929 at age 85, without issue.1
He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Liberal) for Colchester between 1880 and 1885.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Liberal) for West Southwark between 1888 and 1910.1 He held the office of a Lord of Treasury between 1892 and 1895.1 He held the office of Paymaster-General between 1905 and 1910.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1906.1 He was created 1st Baron Southwark, of Southwark, co. London [U.K.] on 13 July 1910.1 He held the office of Lieutenant for the City of London.1 He was president of the London Chamber of Commerce in 1913.1

He was a printer and founder of Sir Joseph Causton and Sons Ltd.1 He held the office of Alderman of London in 1867.4 He held the office of Sheriff of London from 1869 to 1870.4 He was appointed Knight Bachelor on 11 December 1869.4
