Ferquard Mac Taggart, 1st Earl of Ross 
He was also known as Ferquhard ‘mac an t-sagairt’.1 Circa 1214 he helped King Alexander II of Scotland crush a rebellion in Moray and Ross, and brought the king the heads of the rebel leaders.1 He was appointed Knight on 15 June 1215.1 He was created 1st Earl of Ross [Scotland] circa 24 December 1225.1
