Lt.-Col. Eric Holroyd Gibbon was born on 1 February 1913.1 He was the son of Thomas Holroyd Gibbon and Elizabeth Mary Cooper.2 He married Patricia Tomlinson, daughter of Colonel Harold Winslow Tomlinson, on 25 August 1939.1 He died on 28 January 2002 at age 88 at Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.3
He was educated at Blundell’s School, Tiverton, Devon, EnglandG.1 He was commissioned in 1932.1 He fought in the Second World War, where he became a POW in italy, and escaped in 1943.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Royal Transport Corps.1 He was awarded the Companion, Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) and bar.1 He lived in 1976 at Lower Longcombe Farm, Totnes, Devon, EnglandG.1
