     Alexander Peters Macdowall was born in 1777.¹ He was the son of James Macdowall and Isabella Peters.² He died in 1808 at Madras, India^G.¹
     He gained the rank of Captain in 1795 in the 69th Foot.¹ He gained the rank of Brevet Major in the 33rd Foot.²

     Neil Jamieson lived at New York, U.S.A.^G.¹

     Margaret Jamieson was the daughter of Neil Jamieson.² She married James Macdowall, son of William Macdowall, 18th of Garthland and 2nd of Castlesemple and Elizabeth ‘Black Bess’ Graham, in 1782.¹ She died in 1801.¹
     From 1782, her married name became Macdowall.
