     John Tempest was born circa 1625.¹ He was the son of Sir Thomas Tempest and Eleanor Tempest.² He married Elizabeth Heath, daughter of John Heath, on 27 October 1642.¹ He died circa July 1697.¹ He was buried on 26 July 1697.¹
     He lived at Old Durham, England.² He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for County Durham between 1675 and 1677.¹ He was one of the projected Knights of the Royal Oak (a chivalric order mooted by King Charles II.)¹ He lived at the Isle, County Durham, England^G.¹

     Elizabeth Heath was the daughter of John Heath.¹ She married John Tempest, son of Sir Thomas Tempest and Eleanor Tempest, on 27 October 1642.¹ She died in October 1684.¹

     Margaret Tempest was born in 1645.¹ She was the daughter of John Tempest and Elizabeth Heath.² She married Sir Richard Shuttleworth, son of Richard Shuttleworth and Jane Kirke, on 28 July 1664.² She died circa 20 May 1683.² She was buried on 23 May 1683.²
     From 28 July 1664, her married name became Shuttleworth.

     Sir Richard Shuttleworth was born on 19 September 1644.² He was the son of Richard Shuttleworth and Jane Kirke.² He married Margaret Tempest, daughter of John Tempest and Elizabeth Heath, on 28 July 1664.² He died circa 2 March 1680/81.² He was buried on 5 March 1680/81.²
     He held the office of Sheriff of Yorkshire in 1678.² He lived at Barton, Lancashire, England.² He lived at Gawthorpe, Lincolnshire, England^G.¹ He lived at Forcett, Yorkshire, England^G.¹

     Dorothy Tempest was the daughter of John Tempest and Elizabeth Heath.² She married William Sanderson.¹ She died after 1686, without issue.¹
     Her married name became Sanderson. She was living on 15 October 1686.¹
