     Alan Worsley Holmes à Court was born on 19 June 1887.1 He was the son of Charles George Holmes à Court and Mary West Howe.2 He married Eileen Rouse, daughter of Arthur Rouse, on 3 June 1913.1 He died on 16 April 1957 at age 69.1
     He graduated from Sydney University, Medical School, Sydney, New South Wales, AustraliaG, with a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.)1 He fought in the First World War, and was mentioned in despatches.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Australian Army Medical Corps.1 He was appointed Fellow, Royal College of Physicians, London (F.R.C.P.) in 1945.1 He was president of the Royal Australian College of Physicians between 1950 and 1952.1
