     William C. Van Hook married Ethel Blair Fairfax, daughter of Dr. Ferdinando Fairfax and Mary Jane Jett, on 13 December 1881.¹ He died on 3 October 1946.¹

     Ada Susan Fairfax is the daughter of Dr. Ferdinando Fairfax and Mary Jane Jett.² She married Allan Monroe Chandler on 4 October 1892.¹
     From 4 October 1892, her married name became Chandler.

     Archibald Blair Fairfax was born on 22 May 1809.¹ He was the son of Hon. Ferdinando Fairfax and Elizabeth Blair Cary.² He married, firstly, Sarah Carlyle Herbert, daughter of Hon. J. C. Herbert, in November 1832.¹ He married, secondly, Eliza Mary Norris, daughter of Reverend O. Norris, on 2 March 1852.² He died on 3 January 1867 at age 57.²
     He gained the rank of Commander in the U.S. Navy.¹ He gained the rank of Commander between 1861 and 1865 in the Confederate States.¹

     Sarah Carlyle Herbert was the daughter of Hon. J. C. Herbert.² She married Archibald Blair Fairfax, son of Hon. Ferdinando Fairfax and Elizabeth Blair Cary, in November 1832.¹ She died on 23 January 1850.¹
     From November 1832, her married name became Fairfax.

     Eugene Fairfax was born on 26 May 1838.¹ He was the son of Archibald Blair Fairfax and Sarah Carlyle Herbert.² He died on 2 May 1862 at age 23 at Williamsburg, Virginia, U.S.A.^G, killed in action.¹
     He fought in the American Civil War.¹ He gained the rank of officer in the Confederate States Army.¹

     Julian Fairfax was born on 14 December 1841.¹ He was the son of Archibald Blair Fairfax and Sarah Carlyle Herbert.² He died in January 1877 at age 35, unmarried.¹
     He graduated from University of Virginia, Charlottesville, Virginia, U.S.A.^G, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)¹ He fought in the American Civil War.¹ He gained the rank of Midshipman between 1861 and 1865 in the Confederate States Navy.¹
