Major Herrick Augustus Palmer was born on 28 September 1835.2 He was the son of Reverend Henry Palmer and Elizabeth Heyrick.2 He married Dorothy Susan Hazlerigg, daughter of Sir Arthur Grey Hazlerigg, 12th Bt. and Henrietta Phillipps, on 21 November 1861.2 He died on 17 December 1908 at age 73.2
He fought in the Crimean War.2 He gained the rank of Honorary Major in the Glamorgan Militia.2 He gained the rank of Captain in the 62nd Regiment.2 He was awarded the Crimean Medal and Clasp.2 He was awarded the Order of the Medjidie 5th Class.2
