     Maj.-Gen. Alexander Cæsar Hawkins was born on 3 November 1823.1 He was the son of Sir John Cæsar Hawkins, 3rd Bt. and Charlotte Cassandra Surtees.2 He married Janet Lucy Williams, daughter of Lt.-Gen. Edward Arthur Williams, on 19 December 1895.1 He died on 17 December 1916 at age 93, without issue.1
     He fought in the Crimean War.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.)1 He gained the rank of Major-General in the Royal Artillery.1
