     Charles Richard Dawes was born on 3 January 1849 at Simla, Bengal, India.1 He was the son of Colonel Michael Dawes and Louisa Burdett.1 He was baptised on 16 April 1849 at Simla, Bengal, India.1 He married Emma Townsend Karney, daughter of Gilbert Spanshott Karney and Emma Sarah Storrs, on 10 August 1880 at Christ Church, Sandown, Isle of Wight, England.1 He died on 16 June 1923 at age 74.1
     He was educated at Blackheath Proprietary School, Blackheath, London, England.1 He retired from the military in October 1872, with the rank of Sub-Lieutenant, late of the Royal Navy.1 He was Curate between 1876 and 1879 at Sandown, Isle of Wight, England.1 He was Priest in 1877 at Winchester College, Winchester, Hampshire, England.1 He graduated from Corpus Christi College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, in 1877 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He was Chaplain of Missions to Seaman between 1879 and 1880 at South Shields, County Durham, England.1 He graduated from Corpus Christi College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, in 1880 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He was Chaplain between 1880 and 1885 at Fisherman’s Church, Hastings, Kent, England.1 He was Vicar between 1885 and 1887 at Rushen, Isle of Man.1
