     Sir John Harrison, 1st Bt. was born on 27 December 1856.1 He was the son of John Harrison and Sarah Spence.2 He married Clara Elizabeth Fowler, daughter of Jonathan Fowler, on 10 October 1892.1 He died on 14 February 1936 at age 79.1
     He held the office of Mayor of Stockton-on-Tees in 1903.1 He held the office of Mayor of Stockton-on-Tees in 1906.1 He was Chairmam of the Stockton Military Tribunal and Food Control Committee during the First World War.3 He held the office of Mayor of Stockton-on-Tees between 1916 and 1918.1 He was appointed Knight Bachelor in 1919.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)1 He was created 1st Baronet Harrison, of Eaglescliffe, co. Durham [U.K.] on 15 June 1922.1

     He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Harrison, of Eaglescliffe, co. Durham [U.K., 1922] on 14 February 1936.1
