Lady Frances Devereux1

Lady Frances Devereux was born on 20 September 1599 at Walsingham House, Seething Lane, The City, London, EnglandG.3 She was the daughter of Robert Devereux, 2nd Earl of Essex and Frances Walsingham.4,1 She married William Seymour, 2nd Duke of Somerset, son of Edward Seymour, Lord Beauchamp and Honora Rogers, on 3 March 1616/17 at Drayton BassettG.4 She died on 23 November 1679 at age 80.1
From 3 March 1616/17, her married name became Seymour. After her marriage, Lady Frances Devereux was styled as Countess of Hertford on 6 April 1621. After her marriage, Lady Frances Devereux was styled as Marchioness of Hertford on 3 June 1641. After her marriage, Lady Frances Devereux was styled as Duchess of Somerset on 13 September 1660.

Toby Austin Richard William Low, 1st Baron Aldington was born on 25 May 1914.1 He was the son of Lt.-Col. Stuart Low and Hon. Lucy Gwen Atkin.3 He married Felicité Ann Araminta MacMichael, daughter of Sir Harold Alfred MacMichael and Agnes De Sivrac Edith Stephens, on 10 April 1947.1 He died on 7 December 2000 at age 86.4
He was educated at Winchester College, Winchester, Hampshire, EnglandG.1 He graduated from New College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, in 1936 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He was admitted to Middle Temple in 1939 entitled to practise as a Barrister-at-Law.1 He gained the rank of officer in the King’s Royal Rifle Corps (Territorial Corps.)1 He fought in the Second World War between 1940 and 1942, where he fought in Greece, Crete, Western Desert and Tunisia.1 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1941.1 He was Staff Officer of the 8th Army, in Sicily in 1943.1 He was Lieutenant-Colonel of the 13 Corps in 1944.1 He was appointed Member, Order of the British Empire (M.B.E.) in 1944.1 He was Brigadier of the Brigade General Staff, 5 Corps between 1944 and 1945.1 He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1945.1 He was awarded the Commander, U.S. Legion of Merit.1 He was awarded the Croix de Guerre in 1945 avec palmes.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Conservative) for Blackpool North between 1945 and 1962.1 He was a director of Grindlays Bank between 1946 and 1951.1 He was awarded the Territorial Decoration (T.D.) in 1950 and clasp.1 He held the office of Parliamentary Secretary for the Minister of Supply between 1951 and 1954.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1954.1 He held the office of Minister of State, Board of Trade between 1954 and 1957.1 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of St. Michael and St. George (K.C.M.G.) in 1957.1 He graduated from New College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, in 1960 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He was created 1st Baron Aldington, of Bispham, co. Borough of Blackpool [U.K.] on 29 January 1962.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Kent in 1973.1 He lived in 1999 at Knoll Farm, Aldington, Kent, EnglandG.1 He was created Baron Low, of Bispham in the County of Lancashire [U.K. Life Peer] on 16 November 1999.5

Felicité Ann Araminta MacMichael usually went by her middle name of Araminta.1 From 15 June 1943, her married name became Bowman.1 From 10 April 1947, her married name became Low.1 After her marriage, Felicité Ann Araminta MacMichael was styled as Baroness Aldington on 29 January 1962.
