     He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the 3rd Battalion, North Staffordshire Regiment and 3rd Battalion, King’s African Rifles.¹ He fought in the First World War, in East Africa.¹ He gained the rank of Captain in the East African Corps.¹ He fought in the Second World War.¹ He was Commandant of the Italian POW Camp Kenya.¹

     Willoughby James Bond held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of County Longford.¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for County Longford.¹ He lived at Farragh, County Longford, Ireland^G.¹
