Francis Bermingham, 12th Lord Athenry1 
He succeeded as the 12th Lord Athenry [I., c. 1280] in 1645, under the deed signed 3 May 1641 by his elder brother, Edmond.1 In 1649 the exercise of martial law in Connaught was granted to him.1 On 12 August 1652 he had maintained the King’s cause to the last during the Civil War, and so was excluded from the pardon.1 On 9 May 1661 he took his seat in Parliament, with his brother probably dead by this date.1 In 1667 he filed a bill in Chancery against the Portreeve of Athenry.1
