     John Steuart-Menzies of Culdares and Cardney was the son of John Steuart of Cardney and Elizabeth McEwan.¹ He married, firstly, Charlotte Robertson, daughter of Robert Robertson of Tullybelton.¹ He married, secondly, Maria O’Bryen.¹ He died on 23 September 1799.¹
     He was given the name of John Steuart at birth.¹
