     Brigadier Henry Coventry Maitland Makgill Crichton was born on 29 June 1880 at Marylebone, London, England^G.¹ He was the son of Andrew Coventry Maitland Makgill Crichton and Katharine Charlotte Hulse.¹ He married Dorothy Margaret Thorburn, daughter of Sir Walter Thorburn and Elizabeth Jackson Scott, on 21 October 1911.¹ He died on 29 September 1953 at age 73.¹
     He was educated at Charterhouse School, Godalming, Surrey, England.² He fought in the Boer War, where he was severely wounded.² He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches and was wounded.² He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1916.² He was awarded the Chevalier, Ordre national de la Légion d’honneur.² He gained the rank of Colonel in the Royal Scots.² He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.) in 1919.² He was Colonel of the 1st Battalion, Royal Scots Fusiliers in 1928.² He was Temporary Brigadier and Commander of the 14th Infantry Brigade between 1933 and 1937.² He held the office of Aide-de-Camp to HM King George V between 1934 and 1937.² He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1937.²

     Dorothy Margaret Thorburn was born on 11 June 1884.² She was the daughter of Sir Walter Thorburn and Elizabeth Jackson Scott.^3,4 She married Brigadier Henry Coventry Maitland Makgill Crichton, son of Andrew Coventry Maitland Makgill Crichton and Katharine Charlotte Hulse, on 21 October 1911.¹ She died in 1979 at Salisbury, Wiltshire, England.^1,2
     From 21 October 1911, her married name became Maitland Makgill Crichton.¹

     Hamilton Ian Maitland Makgill Crichton was born on 5 April 1918.¹ He was the son of Brigadier Henry Coventry Maitland Makgill Crichton and Dorothy Margaret Thorburn.¹ He died on 27 May 1940 at age 22 at Belgium^G, killed in action.¹ He was buried at Gaurain-Ramecroix War Cemetery, Belgium.¹
     He fought in the Second World War.¹ He gained the rank of 2nd Lieutenant in the Royal Scots Fusiliers.¹

     Diana Elizabeth Katherine Maitland Makgill Crichton was born on 25 April 1916.¹ She was the daughter of Brigadier Henry Coventry Maitland Makgill Crichton and Dorothy Margaret Thorburn.¹ She died on 23 March 1999 at age 82.²
     She was awarded the Territorial Decoration (T.D.)²

     Lt.-Col. Andrew Gavin Maitland Makgill Crichton was born on 3 July 1881 at Marylebone, London, England^G.¹ He was the son of Andrew Coventry Maitland Makgill Crichton and Katharine Charlotte Hulse.¹ He died on 5 September 1956 at age 75, unmarried.¹
     He was educated at Charterhouse School, Godalming, Surrey, England.² He was educated at Oriel College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.² He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches.² He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the 5th Battalion, Cameron Highlanders.² He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1917.² He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.)²

     Lt.-Cdr. Charles Lewis Maitland Makgill Crichton was born on 16 October 1883 at Marylebone, London, England^G.¹ He was the son of Andrew Coventry Maitland Makgill Crichton and Katharine Charlotte Hulse.¹ He died on 7 October 1921 at age 37.¹
     He fought in the Boxer Rebellion in 1900.² He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches.² He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Commander in the Royal Navy.¹ He was awarded the Order of St. Stanislas of Russia.²

     Kathleen Esther Maitland Makgill Crichton was born in 1886 at Marylebone, London, England^G.¹ She was the daughter of Andrew Coventry Maitland Makgill Crichton and Katharine Charlotte Hulse.¹ She married Sidney Gobourn, son of G. Gobourn, on 17 September 1919.²

     Norah Grizel Maitland Makgill Crichton was born in 1889 at Marylebone, London, England^G.¹ She was the daughter of Andrew Coventry Maitland Makgill Crichton and Katharine Charlotte Hulse.¹ She married Major Charles Noel Lyall, son of George Lyall, on 14 July 1908.² She died on 23 December 1977.²

     Muriel Christian Maitland Makgill Crichton was born in 1892 at Marylebone, London, England^G.¹ She was the daughter of Andrew Coventry Maitland Makgill Crichton and Katharine Charlotte Hulse.¹ She married Aldred Clement Rowden, son of Aldred William Rowden and Mabel Ellen Empson, on 16 July 1913.²
     From 16 July 1913, her married name became Rowden.²
