     Mary Cowie was born on 13 June 1837 at Launceston, Tasmania, Australia^G. She was the daughter of Robert Cowie and Juliana Luthman.² She married Charles Nichols, son of Joseph Nichols and Mary Coombs, on 15 July 1858 at Holy Trinity Church, Cressy, Tasmania, Australia^G. She died on 18 May 1928 at age 90 at London, England^G.
     From 15 July 1858, her married name became Nichols.
