     He was admitted to the Bar at South Dakota, U.S.A.^G.¹ He was a practising Attorney and Counsellor-at-Law in 1904 at Washington, U.S.A.^G.¹ He had two younger sons and three daughters.¹

     Robert Pettigrew married Mary Bell.¹
     He lived at Roxhill, Calderbank, Lanarkshire, Scotland^G.¹

     James Bell Pettigrew Finlay was born on 16 April 1860.¹ He was the son of James Finlay and Elizabeth Pettigrew.² He married Margaret Helena Davies, daughter of John Euston Davies, on 30 July 1903.¹ He died on 30 December 1936 at age 76.¹
     He was educated at Airdrie Academy, Airdrie, Lanarkshire, Scotland^G.¹ He was co-founder of Finlay Engineering Company at Newport, Monmouthshire, Wales^G.¹ He lived at Portskewett House, Chepstow, Monmouthshire, Wales^G.¹

     John Euston Davies lived at Dunmarklyn, Newport, Monmouthshire, Wales^G.¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)¹

     Margaret Helena Davies was the daughter of John Euston Davies.² She married James Bell Pettigrew Finlay, son of James Finlay and Elizabeth Pettigrew, on 30 July 1903.¹ She died on 26 December 1961.¹
     From 30 July 1903, her married name became Finlay.

     John Euston Bell Finlay was born on 11 September 1908.¹ He was the son of James Bell Pettigrew Finlay and Margaret Helena Davies.² He married Zoe Josephine Lees, daughter of Brigadier Edward Frederick William Lees, on 2 May 1942.¹ He died on 6 November 1982 at age 74.^1,3
     He was educated at Marlborough College, Marlborough, Wiltshire, England^G.¹ He was educated at Geneva University, Geneva, Switzerland^G.¹ He was a practising solicitor in 1932.¹ He was Junior Legal Assistant, Board of Customs in 1933.¹ He gained the rank of 2nd Lieutenant in 1934 in the 1st (Rifle) Battalion, Monmouthhsire Regiment.¹ He fought in the Second World War, with 38 Division, Western Command and Special Airborne Force in New Guinea, Moluccas, Phillippines and Borneo.¹ He was Senior Legal Assistant in 1945.¹ He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1946.¹ He was awarded the Territorial Decoration (T.D.) in 1947.¹ He was Commissioner and Director of Establishments between 1954 and 1965.¹ He was appointed Fellow, Royal Geographical Society (F.R.G.S.) in 1958.¹ He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1959.¹

     Mary Bankes was born in 1940 at Bournemouth, Dorset, England.¹ She is the daughter of John Henry Ralph Bankes and Hilary Margaret Strickland-Constable.¹

     Zoe Josephine Lees is the daughter of Brigadier Edward Frederick William Lees.² She married John Euston Bell Finlay, son of James Bell Pettigrew Finlay and Margaret Helena Davies, on 2 May 1942.¹
     From 2 May 1942, her married name became Finlay.

     George Edward Bell Finlay was born on 14 April 1948.¹ He is the son of John Euston Bell Finlay and Zoe Josephine Lees.² He married Rose Alexandra Walker in 1980.¹
     He was educated at Harrow School, Harrow, London, England^G.¹ He was educated at Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England^G.¹ He was a stockbroker.¹
