     He graduated from Edinburgh University, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He succeeded as the 4th Lord Torphichen, of Saint John of Torphichen, West Lothian [S., 1564] in January 1621/22.2
