Sir Robert Dunbar of Durn, 5th Bt. was born on 6 January 1780.1 He was the son of Reverend John Dunbar and Janet Grant.2 He married Elizabeth Margaret Fyfe, daughter of William Fyfe, on 22 October 1801.1 He died on 11 November 1813 at age 33.1
He succeeded as the 5th Baronet Dunbar, of Durn [N.S., 1698] circa January 1812.1
