     Major Hastings Elles John Eyre was born on 29 October 1877.¹ He was the son of Lt.-Col. Philip Homan Eyre and Lucy Catherine Louisa Clarke.² He married Joan White, daughter of John Baker White.¹ He died in 1951.¹
     He gained the rank of Major in the 1st Battalion, South Staffordshire Regiment.¹
