     John Patrick Leonard Eustace was born on 3 August 1898 at Natal, South Africa.^1,2 He was the son of Charles Frere Eustace and Lydia Lucy Acutt.³ He married Janet Mary Ferard, daughter of Henry Cecil Ferard, on 23 July 1929.¹ He died on 22 May 1987 at age 88 at Verulam, Natal, South Africa.²
     He was educated at St. Andrew’s College, Grahamstown, Cape Province, South Africa^G.¹ He fought in the First World War, with South African Infantry.¹ He fought in the 3rd Afghan War in 1919.¹ He fought in the Arab Rebellion in Iraq in 1920.¹ He fought in the North-West Frontier in 1930.¹ He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.) in 1936.¹ He fought in the North-West Frontier between 1936 and 1938.¹ He fought in the Second World War.¹ He fought in the Lieutenant-Colonel, 11th Sikhs.¹ He lived in 1976 at 20 Highfield Road, Pietermaritzburg, Natal, South Africa^G.¹

     Henry Cecil Ferard was appointed Companion, Order of the Star of India (C.S.I.)¹ He was appointed Companion, Order of the Indian Empire (C.I.E.)¹ He was in the Indian Civil Service.¹

     Janet Mary Ferard was born at Uttar Pradesh, India.² She is the daughter of Henry Cecil Ferard.³ She married John Patrick Leonard Eustace, son of Charles Frere Eustace and Lydia Lucy Acutt, on 23 July 1929.¹
