     He was Editor and one of the proprietors of The Baltimore American and Daily Advertiser at Baltimore, Maryland, U.S.A.^G.¹ He was naturalized as a American citizen on 1 May 1805.¹

     Robert Archibald Dobbin was born on 14 May 1807.¹ He was the son of George Dobbin and Catherine Bose.² He married Mary Mathews Townsend, daughter of Joseph Townsend, on 16 November 1830.¹ He died on 16 August 1862 at age 55.¹
     He was Editor of The Baltimore American.¹ A partner in his father’s firm of Pechin, Dobbin & Murphy, publishers and proprietors of The Baltimore American.¹

     Mary Mathews Townsend was born circa 1809.¹ She was the daughter of Joseph Townsend.² She married Robert Archibald Dobbin, son of George Dobbin and Catherine Bose, on 16 November 1830.¹ She died on 15 December 1860.¹
     From 16 November 1830, her married name became Dobbin.

     Joseph Townsend Dobbin was born on 26 January 1836.¹ He was the son of Robert Archibald Dobbin and Mary Mathews Townsend.² He married Mary Miller Whittaker on 18 January 1859.¹ He died on 7 December 1864 at age 28.¹
     He was a partner in the firm of Dobbin & Fulton, printers, publishers and proprietors of The Baltimore American.¹ He was Editor of The Baltimore American.¹

     Mary Miller Whittaker married Joseph Townsend Dobbin, son of Robert Archibald Dobbin and Mary Mathews Townsend, on 18 January 1859.¹
     From 18 January 1859, her married name became Dobbin.

     Robert Joseph Dobbin was the son of Joseph Townsend Dobbin and Mary Miller Whittaker.² He died, young.¹

     Ann Whittaker Dobbin was the daughter of Joseph Townsend Dobbin and Mary Miller Whittaker.² She died, in infancy.¹
