Admiral Sir Henry d’Esterre Darby was born in 1749.1 He was the son of Jonathan Darby and Susannah Lovett.3 He died in 1823, unmarried.1
He fought in the Battle of the Nile, where he was distinguished for his gallant conduct in command of H.M.S. Bellerophon.1 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.)1
