     Samuel Burton was the son of Thomas Burton and Ann Shepherd.^2,1 He married Margery Harris.¹ He died in 1712.¹ His will was proven (by probate) on 1 December 1712.¹
     On 4 October 1666 he had a grant of lands in Clare.¹ He held the office of High Sheriff of County Clare in 1669.¹ On 1 July 1685 he had a large grant of lands in the same County and County Limerick.¹ He lived at Buncraggy, County Clare, Ireland^G.¹
