Tipperary [U.K., 1828] on 23 January 1953.1 He succeeded as the 6th Baron Gillford, of the Manor of Gillford, co. Down [I., 1766] on 23 January 1953.1 He succeeded as the 6th Viscount Clanwilliam, of co. Tipperary [I., 1766] on 23 January 1953.1 He succeeded as the 9th Baronet Meade, of Ballintubber, co. Cork [I., 1703] on 23 January 1953.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of County Down between 1957 and 1962.2 He held the office of Lieutenant of County Down between 1962 and 1975.2 He was appointed Commander, Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem (C.St.J.) in 1975.2 He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of County Down between 1975 and 1979.3

Colonel Arthur Thomas Loyd was born on 19 April 1882.3 He was the son of Lewis Haig Loyd.4 He married Dorothy Willert, daughter of Paul Ferdinand Willert and Henrietta Crofts, in 1911.5 He died on 8 November 1944 at age 62.3
He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.)5 He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Berkshire between 1935 and 1944.3 He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.)6 He lived at Lockinge, Wantage, Berkshire, EnglandG.7
