Brig.-Gen. Cyril Francis de Sales Murphy1 
Brig.-Gen. Cyril Francis de Sales Murphy was born on 17 May 1882 at Cork, County Cork, Ireland.1,2 He was the son of Jerome J. Murphy and Mary Cagney.3 He married Marguerite Nagle, daughter of Garrett Thomas Nagle, in 1926.1 He died on 7 January 1961 at age 78, without issue.1
He was educated at Beaumont College, Old Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He fought in the First World War.1 He gained the rank of between 1914 and 1919 in the Royal Flying Corps.1 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1917.1 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.)1 He was awarded the Officer de Croix de Couronne.1 He retired from the military in 1919, with the rank of Brigadier-General.1 He was with the National Institute of Agriculture and Botany between 1922 and 1927.1 He fought in the Second World War, with the Royal Air Force (Air Ministry.)1 He was with the National Institute of Agriculture and Botany between 1944 and 1947.1 He lived at The Bridge, Banagher, County Offaly, IrelandG.1 He lived at 3 Chesham Street, London, EnglandG.1
