     Lt.-Col. Basil Jerome Murphy was born on 28 August 1908.^1,2 He was the son of Ernest Mary Murphy and Evelyn Rock.³ He married Alice Ethel Joan Paton, daughter of Major Ian Valentine Paton, on 19 December 1939.¹ He and Alice Ethel Joan Paton were divorced in 1949.¹ He died in October 2001 at age 93 at Salisbury, Wiltshire, England.²

     From 19 December 1939, her married name became Murphy.

     Shelagh Mary Murphy was born on 11 September 1941.¹ She is the daughter of Lt.-Col. Basil Jerome Murphy and Alice Ethel Joan Paton.²
