     General Richard Montgomery was born on 2 December 1738 at Swords, County Dublin, Ireland.2,3 He was the son of Thomas Montgomery and Mary Franklin.1 He married Janet Livingston, daughter of Robert R. Livingston and Margaret Beekman, in 1773.2 He died on 30 December 1775 at age 37 at Quebec, Canada, killed in action.1,3
     He fought in the Siege of Quebec in 1775.1
