     James Owen Needham was born on 12 October 1897.¹ He was the son of Frederick William Needham and Geraldine Paget.² He married Marjorie Hylda Adeline Cator, daughter of Charles George Lumley Cator and Adeline Louisa Blois, on 3 June 1929.¹ He died on 23 March 1975 at age 77.¹
     He was educated at Uppingham School, Uppingham, Rutland, England^G.¹ He gained the rank of Captain in the Indian Army.¹
