     William Arthur Stanley was born on 19 April 1875 at County Laois, Ireland^G.¹ He was the son of Rev. Dr. Abraham Stanley and Caroline Catherine Johnstone.¹

     Robert Johnston was born circa 1741 at Gilford, County Down, Ireland^G.¹ He was the son of Richard Johnston and Catherine Gill.¹ He married Jane Trail, daughter of Reverend Hamilton Trail and Susanna Hamilton, in 1774.¹

     Jane Trail was born on 7 August 1753 at Killyleagh, County Down, Ireland^G.² She was the daughter of Reverend Hamilton Trail and Susanna Hamilton.³ She married Robert Johnston, son of Richard Johnston and Catherine Gill, in 1774.² She died in 1774.¹
     From 1774, her married name became Johnston.²

     Maj.-Gen. Sir Ronald Bertram Lane was born on 19 February 1847 at King’s Bromley Manor, Staffordshire, England^G.¹ He was the son of John Newton Lane and Hon. Agnes Bagot.¹ He married Augusta Sarah Beaumont in 1893.¹ He died on 7 March 1937 at age 90 at Carleton Hall, Saxmundham, Suffolk, England^G.¹
     He was commissioned in 1867 with the rank of Ensign, in the service of the Rifle Brigade.¹ He fought in the Zulu War between 1878 and 1879.¹ He fought in the First Boer War in 1881.¹ He was Aide-de-Camp to the Duke of Connaught in 1882.¹ He was Aide-de-Camp to the Commander-in-Chief, Duke of Cambridge.¹
