Brigadier Guy Bomford was born on 28 June 1899 at River Road, Temple Ewell, Kent, England.1,2 He was the son of Sir Gerald Bomford and Mary Florence Eteson.3 He married Audrey Edith Barclay, daughter of Edward Wilfred Barclay, on 23 May 1925.1 He and Audrey Edith Barclay were divorced in 1934.1 He married, secondly, Annette Isolde Brown, daughter of Lt.-Cdr. George Halliday Brown, on 7 November 1935.3 He died on 10 February 1996 at age 96 at Sutton Courtenay, Oxfordshire, England.2
He was educated at Marlborough College, Marlborough, Wiltshire, EnglandG.1 He was educated at Royal Military Academy, Woolwich, Kent, EnglandG.1 He fought in the First World War.1 He was on the Survey of India between 1921 and 1948.1 He was appointed Fellow, Indian Academic Society in 1935.1 He was appointed Fellow, Royal Astronomical Society (F.R.A.S.) in 1935.1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He was Director of Survey SEAC between 1945 and 1946.1 He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1946.1 He was appointed Fellow, Geological Society (F.G.S.) in 1947.1 He graduated from Queen’s College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, in 1948 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He retired from the military in 1948, with the rank of Brigadier, late of the Royal Engineers.1 He was Reader in Surveying and Geodesy between 1948 and 1966 at Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG.1 He was appointed Fellow, Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (F.R.I.C.S.) in 1950.1 He wrote the book Geodesy, published 1952.1 He graduated from Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, in 1953 with a Doctor of Science (D.Sc.)1 He was President of the International Associaiton of Geodesy between 1963 and 1967.1 He lived in 1976 at Hainton Lodge, Sutton Courtenay, Oxfordshire, EnglandG.1
