Alec Randolph Minchin was born on 4 April 1914.1 He was the son of Frederick Minchin and Lily May Johnstone.2 He married Mabel Alice Stone, daughter of Joseph Henry Stone, in February 1941.1 He died on 15 September 1944 at age 30, whilst a prisoner-of-war on a Japanese ship torpedoed when proceeding from Singapore to Korea.1,3
He gained the rank of Corporal in the 2/4 MG Battalion, Australian Imperial Force.3 He fought in the Second World War, where he became a Japanese POW.1
