     Jacob Gowland Joicey was born in 1843.² He was the son of George Joicey and Dorothy Gowland.³ He married Hannah Thompson, daughter of James Thompson.¹ He died on 1 December 1899.¹

     Hannah Thompson was the daughter of James Thompson.² She married Jacob Gowland Joicey, son of George Joicey and Dorothy Gowland.¹ She died on 17 April 1926.¹

     James Joicey, 1st Baron Joicey was born on 4 April 1846.¹ He was the son of George Joicey and Dorothy Gowland.² He married, firstly, Elizabeth Amy Robinson, daughter of Joseph Robinson, on 23 April 1879.¹ He married, secondly, Margaret Smyles Drever, daughter of Colonel Thomas Drever and Marguerite de Fontaine, on 21 February 1884.¹ He died on 21 November 1936 at age 90.¹
     He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Liberal) for Chester-le-Street between 1885 and 1905.¹ He was created 1st Baronet Joicey, of Chester-le-Street, co. Durham [U.K.] on 3 July 1893.¹ He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Civil Law (D.C.L.) by Durham University, Durham, County Durham, England^G.¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for County Durham.¹ He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of County Durham.¹ He was created 1st Baron Joicey, of Chester-le-Street, co. Durham [U.K.] on 13 January 1906.¹
