General James Maurice Primrose1 
General James Maurice Primrose was baptised on 4 August 1819 at Colchester, Essex, England.2 He was the son of James Primrose.2 He married Elizabeth Beresford, daughter of Reverend George Hamilton de la Poer Beresford and Elizabeth Nisbet, on 12 October 1857 at Bangalore, Madras, India.1,2 He died on 25 November 1892 at age 73 at Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland.1,2
He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the 43rd Foot (Monmouthshire Light Infantry.)2 He fought in the Indian Mutiny.2 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Star of India (C.S.I.)1 He fought in the Afghan War between 1879 and 1880.2 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-General in 1880.2 He retired from the military in 1882, with the rank of General.2
