     He was educated at Neuwied, Prussia^G.¹ He was educated at Bristol Grammar School, Bristol, England^G.¹ He was educated at King’s College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England^G.¹ He was the Principal between 1902 and 1909 at St. Andrew’s School, Grahamstown, Cape Town, Cape Province, South Africa^G.¹ He was member of the council at Rhodes University, Grahamstown, Cape Province, South Africa^G.¹ He was member of the council at University of the Cape of Good Hope, Cape Town, Cape Province, South Africa^G.¹ He wrote the book The Religious Philosophy of Rudolf Eucken, published 1914.¹ He was awarded the Chevalier, Legion of Honour.¹

     Inez Ansell Passingham is the daughter of George Augustus Passingham and Catherine Amy Staples.^2,1 She married Reverend William Stuart Macgowan, son of Alexander Thorburn Macgowan and Elizabeth Yorstoun Stuart, on 24 April 1889.¹
     From 24 April 1889, her married name became Macgowan.

     George Moore Stuart Macgowan was born on 29 October 1891.¹ He was the son of Reverend William Stuart Macgowan and Inez Ansell Passingham.² He married Elizabeth Marjorie Ross in 1925.¹
