He was educated at Sherborne School, Sherborne, Dorset, EnglandG.1 He was commissioned in 1946 with the rank of 2nd Lieutenant, in the service of the Royal Marines.1 He was Adjutant of the Commando School between 1952 and 1954.2 He was Chief Instructor of the Signal Training Wingi between 1959 and 1961.2 He was Brigade Signal Officer of the 3 Commando Brigade between 1961 and 1963.2 He was styled as Baronet Pringle however this succession was reversed by the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council decision on 20 June 2016 on 8 February 1961.2 He was Commanding Officer of the 45 Commando Group between 1971 and 1974.2 He was Commanding Officer of the HQ Commando Forces between 1974 and 1976.2 He gained the rank of Major-General in 1978 in the Commando Forces.2 He was Chief of Staff to Commandant-General between 1979 and 1981.2 He was Commandant-General between 1981 and 1984.2 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.) in 1982.1 He wrote the book Peace and the Bomb, published 1982, contributor.1 He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) by City University, London, EnglandG, in 1982.1 He wrote the book The Future of British Sea Power, published 1984.2 He was Colonel Commandant between 1989 and 1990.2 He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Law (LL.D.) by Exeter University, Exeter, Devon, EnglandG, in 1994.1 He lived in 2003 at 76 South Croxted Road, Dulwich, London, EnglandG.1

He was educated at Worth Abbey School, EnglandG.2 He graduated from Trinity College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He lived in 2003 at 5 Hyde Vale, London, EnglandG.1 On 20 June 2016 A Judicial Committee of the Privy Council found that Norman Hamilton Pringle was incorrectly enrolled as the 9th baronet, when the title should have gone to his younger brother, Ronald Steuart pringle (on the grounds that DNA testing showed that Normal Hamilton Pringle was not the natural son of the 8th baronet).
Accordingly Simon has not succeeded his father Steuart as the 11th Baronet.3
