     Edward Cope Gem was born in 1849 at King’s Norton, Worcestershire, EnglandG.1 He was the son of Edward Gem and Ann Cope.2 He married Mary Augusta Chamberlain, daughter of Reverend George William Chamberlain and Launce Campbell Glover, in 1877 at Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, EnglandG.1 He died after 1936.1

Mary Emma Jeronima Dewar, daughter of John James Evelyn Dewar, 4th Baron Forteviot and Lady Elizabeth Jeronima Waldegrave, in 1988.1
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.2 He was educated at Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, Berkshire, England.2 He gained the rank of Major in the Grenadier Guards.2 He succeeded as the 17th Baron Strange [E., 1628] on 11 March 2005.
